Competition Question Sets
Competition Question Sets
Questions Galore offers standard competition sets that follow state specifications for the format, number of questions, and categories of questions. There are competition formats available for the states of Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas, and Kentucky. In addition there is a standard format of competition questions for use in all other states. We can create custom–made question sets to meet your specific needs.

Every competition set is unique to your area, every set is different, and new questions are written each year. Questions are available for the following levels: Elementary (grades 5–6), Junior High (grades 7–8), High School Junior Varsity (grades 9–10), and High School Varsity (grades 11–12). See the descriptions below for the format of the question sets for each state. (Note: Extra questions are provided with each set of questions.)

Alabama:
Four periods. First period is 10 toss–up questions. Second period is 10 toss–up questions followed by two–part bonus questions. Third period is a 20–question worksheet. Fourth period is 10 toss–up questions.
Alabama Scholastic Competition Association (ASCA)

Arkansas:
Four rounds. First round is 20 toss–up questions. Second round is 10 toss–up questions and 4, four–part bonus questions. Third round is ten–part lightning round questions. Fourth round is 20 toss–up questions.
Arkansas Quiz Bowl (AGQBA)

Georgia:
20 toss–up questions followed by two–part bonus questions.
Georgia Academic Team Association (GATA)

Illinois:
High School JV and Varsity level question sets contain 30 toss–up and 30 bonus questions (3, 4, or 5 parts).
Junior High and Elementary level question sets contain 30 toss–up and 20 bonus questions (3, 4, or 5 parts).
Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA)
Illinois High School Association (IHSA)

Kentucky:
High School JV and Varsity level question sets contain 100 toss–up questions.
Junior High and Elementary level question sets contain 80 toss–up questions.
Kentucky Association for Academic Competition (KAAC)

Missouri:
Four quarters. First quarter is 15 toss–up questions. Second quarter is 10 toss–up questions followed by two–part bonus questions. Third quarter is 15 toss–up questions. Fourth quarter is 10 toss–up questions followed by two–part bonus questions.
Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA)

Oklahoma:
Four quarters. First quarter is 20 toss–up questions. Second quarter is ten–part lightning round questions. Third quarter is 20 toss–up questions. Fourth quarter is ten–part lightning round questions.
Oklahoma Association for Academic Competition (OAAC)
Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA)

STANDARD :: All Other States
High School JV and Varsity level question sets contain 25 toss–up questions and 25, four–part bonus questions.
Junior High and Elementary level question sets contain 20 toss–up questions and 20, four–part bonus questions.

Practice Questions
Practice Questions
Questions Galore sells practice questions for use in team practices only. These questions have been used in previous tournaments and should NOT be used for competitions. Practice questions are available for the following levels: Elementary (grades 5–6), Junior High (grades 7–8), High School Junior Varsity (grades 9–10), and High School Varsity (grades 11–12).

Each set of practice questions contains the following:
• 60 toss–up questions
• 30 four or five–part bonus questions
• 1 ten–part lightning round
• 1 twenty–question worksheet

Weeklies
Weeklies
Each week from September through April (a total of 32 weeks), Questions Galore will send you via e–mail a packet of practice questions and study aids. Choose from either the High School level or Middle School level. There will be a total of 20 toss–ups and 10 bonus questions per weekly packet plus an extra study aid, such as current events articles, fact sheets, lightning rounds, games, and puzzles. (Weeklies have replaced our Monthly Packets)

There are twenty different books and two CD’s available from Questions Galore.

These four books each have a different selection of 1,500 toss–up questions, divided into 11 basic academic categories. Answers are provided at the back of the book. For Grades 6–9.

Rapid Fire  •  Rapid Fire 2
These two books each have a different selection of 150 ten–part bonus questions, also known as “lightning rounds.” Each round covers one subject area or common theme. Rounds cover all basic academic categories but are mixed–up throughout the book. Answers are provided on the same page. Great for quick recall practice. For Grades 6–9.

These two books each have a different selection of 75 twenty–question worksheets. Each worksheet covers one subject area or common theme. Worksheets cover all basic academic categories but are mixed–up throughout the book. Answers are provided on a separate page. For Grades 6–9.

Coach’s Pal
This book has 1,200 toss–up questions. Questions cover all basic academic categories but are mixed–up throughout the book. Answers are provided underneath each question for easy quizzing by the coach. For Grades 6–9.

Big Book of Bonuses
This book has 175 four– or five–part questions divided by basic academic categories. Answers are provided underneath each question. For Grades 6–9.

Batter Up Trivia Basic Game Batter–Up Trivia Replacements
This book is actually a game that includes game board and game pieces packaged with a book of 1,600 toss–up questions. Questions are grouped as singles, doubles, triples, and home runs, with each level covering a mixed variety of academic areas. The Replacements book has 1,600 additional, different questions for more hours of play. For Grades 6–9.

CD ~ High School / College Book of Lists
Offers hundreds of lists in all academic categories. The CD–ROM is in Adobe format and allows for the use of Adobe search, copy, paste, etc. features. This allows you to create your own personal lists and questions.

Now you can purchase the complete set of IESA Tournament questions used in Illinois from each year 2007–2009, or even the newest questions from the 2010 tournament.
